Text-to-911 now available across Minnesota

Text-to-911 is an alternative to calling in an emergency when it would be unsafe for an individual to speak. The addition also means individuals who have some form of hearing loss will now be able to use text dispatchers as a first contact option. Until now, deaf Minnesotans have gone without a direct way to communicate with 911.


Rep. Nick Zerwas receives MCPA Legislator Recognition Award

The award recognizes a lawmaker for their leadership and support on important legislation impacting law enforcement and public safety.  Representative Zerwas is from Elk River and currently serving his 3rd term in the Minnesota House of Representatives.


Critical Issues Forum: Law Enforcement Solutions to the Mental Health Crisis

5 Eyewitness News meteorologist Ken Barlow will join MCPA's Critical Issues Forum on mental health as a speaker.  The event, hosted December 13th in partnership with Nexus, will examine what local law enforcement agencies are doing to improve interactions with the mentally ill and where real solutions exist.  Barlow shared his own diagnosis with bipolar disorder several years ago.
