MNLARS Vehicle Data Transition Complete

The Department of Public Safety Driver and Vehicle Services (DVS) has completed its transition of vehicle data from its mainframe system to the new Minnesota Licensing and Registration System, or MNLARS.

What does this mean for you?

Because you use DVS Access or eCharging to access DVS driver and vehicle data, you will notice some differences in what you are able to see and do in the system.
  • Address field – A larger character limit for the address field means long addresses are no longer cut off.
  • Vehicle Color – The Vehicle Color field contains one color as DVS now only collects one color.
  • Company Name – Search results no longer include a company ID.
  • Vehicle Descriptor – The Vehicle Descriptor codes now match NCIC codes. As a result, agencies will see changes to codes, flag codes and descriptions.
  • Advanced Vehicle Search – The color search functionality will be unavailable for the next few weeks. You will receive an update when full functionality returns.
Because the new system is designed to be intuitive, training is not necessary. Users are encouraged to view MNLARS Release Notes, posted in MyBCA under DVS Access, for further details on the differences between the two systems.

DVS will provide additional functionality in the fall. You will receive more information about that as the date nears.

Driver information will move to MNLARS in phases beginning in 2018.
