KENYON, MN Police Chief

The City of Kenyon, MN, is accepting applications for the position of Chief of Police. The department has three full time, and part-time officers and a full-time Administrative Assistant.  Kenyon is located in Goodhue County approximately 35 miles south of the Twin Cities and 40 miles north or Rochester, MN   Preferred candidates will place an emphasis on community policing, as well as possessing strong leadership, and communication skills. 2021 Salary Range: $32.00 - $41.60 per hour ($66,560 - $86,528 annually) plus excellent benefits.  Must establish residency within a 10-minute response time within 6 months.  (Additional time to establish residency may be considered for extenuating circumstances).
Minimum Qualifications: Candidates must possess a minimum of 6 years of full-time law enforcement experience and be Minnesota POST Board license eligible at the time of hire.
Desired Qualifications: 1-2 years or more of supervisory law enforcement experience.

The Police Chief is responsible for providing leadership, vision and direction for the Police Department. A senior leadership position, the Chief establishes functional policies, makes tactical decisions within overall strategic direction, and develops and provides oversight for the budget and capital improvements.

The Police Chief participates as an active member of the City’s Executive Leadership Team and maintains strong, productive and cooperative relationships with other City departments to maximize use of resources and talent.

Administration or related field and 10 years of progressively responsible police experience, at
least five years in a leadership position or an equivalent combination of education and

Licensure by the Minnesota Board of Peace Officer Standards and Training
