The BCA’s Criminal History System now includes booking photos and national data

The BCA has implemented the two most requested new features for the Criminal History System. National criminal history data and booking photos are now available in CHS, making the new system even more convenient for law enforcement users.

  • National criminal history data available through CHS - CHS users can get Interstate Identification Index (III) data by providing the name and date of birth, the FBI UCN or the State Identification Number. Users simply un-check the “Include III Search” box to search Minnesota-only. NLETS state-to-state data is available through a separate CHS query.
  • Booking photos added to CHS - The three most recent booking photos automatically display along with demographic data. Booking photos going back to 2007 submitted by agencies through Livescan are included. Additional images may exist in the Minnesota Repository of Arrest Photos.

A brief, updated CHS training video is available on the MyBCA homepage under Criminal History, and on Launch Pad.

More CHS updates are planned this year including adding court case initiation information to criminal history records, RAP sheet improvements for Gun Permit Background Checks and Portals, and more.
