Course Description
How to be That Sergeant (Not “That" Sergeant)
Many of us have been fortunate enough to have had a supervisor who made a real impact on our career – and perhaps on our lives. They gave us just what we needed to be better – to see ourselves as true professionals and leaders. Most of us have had another kind of supervisor – the kind we don’t want to emulate.
This class will help you to be a memorable, even transformative leader to the officers on your team.
Topics include:
- Seeing each officer as an individual, and as part of a team.
- Setting and upholding expectations. Mentorship and coaching to the next level.
- Addressing problems with courage, candor, compassion, and curiosity.
- Resolving team conflicts.
- Building and maintaining your own character as a leader.
This will be a highly interactive session where you will be pushed to reflect on your own leadership and to commit to growth.
