You’re invited to join the Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association for our 2026 Day at the Capitol. This annual event brings together law enforcement leaders from across Minnesota to engage directly with legislators, public safety partners, and state agency officials during the legislative session.

Who Is MCPA?

The Minnesota Chiefs of Police Association represents more than 500 current and retired law enforcement and public safety leaders from across the state. Our members include police chiefs and executive-level public safety professionals serving communities of all sizes.

MCPA advances professional policing through leadership development, training, and legislative engagement. The Association serves as a unified voice on issues impacting law enforcement and works to strengthen public safety across Minnesota.

What to Expect

Attendees will hear from legislators and public safety officials and will have opportunities to connect with lawmakers and state agency partners. The program is designed to provide timely legislative updates and facilitate meaningful conversations about the issues impacting law enforcement and public safety in Minnesota.

Following the formal program, guests are encouraged to:

  • Explore the Capitol
  • Attend committee hearings
  • Meet with their local lawmakers

You are encouraged to contact your state representative and senator ahead of time to schedule a meeting after the program and invite them to attend. If you would like assistance setting up meetings with your legislators, please indicate that in the RSVP form.


Parking at the Capitol Complex requires some planning, but there are several public options available.

Public parking is available in Capitol Complex ramps, with limited metered street parking nearby. A blue “P” symbol designates public parking areas throughout the complex.

Parking Resources:

Visitors to the Minnesota State Capitol should be aware of entry protocols, including security screening procedures.

Public screening locations include:

  • South entrance under the Capitol steps
  • Tunnels from the Minnesota Senate Building
  • Tunnels from the State Office Building
  • Minnesota Judicial Center
