Executive Director Report
I’m looking forward to seeing many of you at our first-ever Fall Leadership Summit, November 18–20, 2025, at Cragun’s Resort in Brainerd. This new event is designed to bring chiefs and command staff together for focused leadership training, professional development, and conversations on the issues that matter most to Minnesota law enforcement.
This week, I want to highlight two of the sessions on the agenda:
Wellness for CLEOS
Rachael Peterson will lead this important discussion on strategies for maintaining your personal wellness as a chief or command-level officer. The role of CLEO comes with unique challenges, and this session will offer practical approaches to help you take care of yourself while leading your organization.
State Agency Updates
We’ll hear directly from state leaders, including Public Safety Commissioner Bob Jacobson, Assistant Commissioner TJ Cunningham, Colonel Christina Bogojevic from the State Patrol, and Cannabis Management Commissioner Eric Taubel. This panel will share timely updates and information you can use in your own community.
I encourage you to register and join us for this new opportunity to connect, learn, and collaborate.
Thank you,
Jeff Potts
Executive Director
Help Shape MCPA's 2026 Legislative Agenda
MCPA is preparing to develop its legislative agenda for the 2026 Legislative Session. Our members consistently rank advocacy at the Capitol as one of the most valuable services we provide, and your input is essential to this process.
We invite members to submit proposals for consideration. All proposals will be reviewed and discussed by the Legislative Committee, followed by a survey of committee members to gauge support for each idea. The MCPA Board of Directors will then vote to adopt the final agenda in October. The adopted agenda will guide our legislative efforts during the upcoming session.
Submit a proposal by completing this short form (just three questions) and be prepared to briefly present your idea at an upcoming Legislative Committee meeting.
If you're interested in getting more involved with the process, you can join the Legislative Committee. Meetings are virtual and scheduled for mid to late September. We encourage participation from members across Minnesota, representing agencies of all sizes.
Ret. Chief Stephanie Revering joins MCPA Staff
MCPA is pleased to welcome Stephanie Revering as the Association's new Training and Operations Director. In this new role, Stephanie will oversee many of MCPA's daily operations and training events.
Stephanie is a highly respected law enforcement professional who served 28 years in the field before retiring. For the last 12 years of her career, she was the Chief of Police for the City of Crystal.
When asked about continuing to work with law enforcement, Stephanie said, "I have a deep respect for the service and sacrifice that law enforcement leaders provide to their communities. My mission is to contribute meaningfully to their ongoing efforts by delivering high-impact training tailored to the evolving demands of modern policing."
She looks forward to supporting our member agencies and helping them meet the challenges of today's law enforcement landscape.

Whether you're looking to launch a new initiative or build on a successful program from last year, this funding can help bring your ideas to life.
Agencies that received funding in 2024 are welcome to apply again in 2025.
